Balloon Sinuplasty is a new and advanced nasal surgical procedure developed for clearing the blocked sinuses. During the procedure, the specialist inserts an endoscope (with a light and camera on the end) into the nasal passages followed by insertion of a balloon catheter for sinus opening expansion. When the balloon is inflated, it cleanses passageways and cavities with a saline rinse. The procedure is performed using either general or local anesthesia. The success rate for the treatment is above 95% with extremely positive results for at least one year following the surgery. Contrary to the traditional sinus surgery, patients undergone Balloon Sinuplasty can resume their normal activity 1-2 days post-surgery.
